Unexpected Discovery: Restoring Steps to a 1911 Home
Vintage homes typically have long heritages full of undiscovered items from another time, very similar to a time capsule. In this case, it was about the original contractors who built the home. During the dismantling of the original deteriorating limestone front and side steps, Frank V. Gonzalez, Architect and Restoration Contractor with his staff, found old glass beer bottles. The turn of the century bottles were buried underneath and within the step’s walls. Accompanying the bottles, and slightly beneath the topsoil on side steps, an old leather shoe was unearthed dating before 1911.
